The body of a woman, believed to be a migrant, was discovered in a bushy area near the A06 Oil Field Well along the M2 Taska Road, La Romaine on Wednesday morning, February 11th, 2026, shortly after 8:15 a.m. A tractor operator working nearby made the grim discovery and alerted authorities. The woman was found lying on her back approximately 20 feet from the roadway. Her right hand had been severed, indicating signs of violence and trauma. She has not yet been formally identified but is described as appearing to be of Latin American descent, approximately 5 feet 4 inches tall, slim-built, with a light brown complexion, wearing a black and red top and blue three-quarter-length pants. Officers from the San Fernando Criminal Investigations Department and the Homicide Bureau of Investigations (Region Three) responded to the scene. Police have launched a homicide investigation into the circumstances surrounding her death.
