A 32-year-old clerical assistant attached to the University of the West Indies was robbed at knifepoint on Sunday, February 22, 2026, at approximately 1:35 p.m. while walking south along 10th Avenue in Barataria. The victim was confronted by three men at the corner of 4th Street and 10th Avenue, with one suspect announcing the robbery and causing the victim to fear for his safety. The assailants relieved the victim of one gold chain valued at $2,500 and three gold-coloured bracelets valued at $300 each, totalling $3,400 in jewellery. One of the suspects was armed with a cutlass during the incident. The three suspects fled the scene, running north along 10th Avenue before entering a black Nissan Note with registration numbers believed to be either PDA 6836 or PDA 6839. The vehicle then proceeded west along the Eastern Main Road. Police are investigating the incident and searching for the suspects.
