A 67-year-old businessman was confronted by armed men outside his residence on Jaimungal Trace in Penal late Monday night, March 9, shortly after 10:00 p.m. The businessman was seated in his gold Toyota Hilux with an employee when a man approached the driver's side, struck the window causing it to shatter, and the businessman exited to confront him. During the confrontation, the suspect allegedly pointed an object resembling a firearm at the businessman and two loud explosions were heard, indicating shots were fired. A second suspect simultaneously approached the passenger side, where the employee exited and attempted to kick him. Both suspects fled the scene into nearby bushes. Police responded after receiving reports of loud explosions and conducted a search of the surrounding area, but the suspects were not located. A spent shell casing and backpack were recovered at the scene.
