Businessman Danny Guerra, owner of DG Homes real estate company, was ambushed and shot as he exited his vehicle outside his businessplace at Oropouche Road, Sangre Grande on Friday afternoon shortly before 5pm. Occupants of a car parked on the roadway opened fire on Guerra as he exited his vehicle. Workmen rushed him to the hospital but he was pronounced dead on arrival. Guerra had been released on January 2, 2026 after six weeks of preventive detention under a state of emergency order. He had faced charges related to unlawful processing of aggregate and was accused of leading an organized crime group involved in illegal quarrying.
