Machine operator assaulted with metal bat (26, Morvant)

Bhagoutie Trace, near Sunshine Snacks, Barataria, San Juan, San Juan - Laventille

A 26-year-old machine operator from Morvant was assaulted with a metal baseball bat on Monday, March 23, 2026, around 3:30 p.m. outside Sunshine Snacks on Bhagoutie Trace, Barataria, where he worked. The victim had intervened in an argument between two male co-workers over a woman; approximately 30 minutes later, one of the men returned with three others in a blue Nissan Almera and confronted him. During the assault, two suspects attacked the victim, with one striking him in the face with a metal bat, causing him to lose consciousness. The victim was transported to the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex, where he regained consciousness and received treatment. PC Ball responded, recorded statements from the victim at the hospital, and investigations led to the arrest of a suspect known as "Buck," 23, at Barataria Police Station. The vehicle used in the incident was recovered at the suspect's residence.
