Robbery suspects arrested after chase in Palmiste; cash and firearm seized

Brash Boulevard, near picnic site, Duncan Village , Penal - Debe

Two men were arrested on Tuesday evening following a police response to a robbery report. Officers PC Plaza and PC McIntosh were on mobile patrol along Rushworth Street, San Fernando when they received a wireless report of a robbery involving a silver Nissan Bluebird believed to be in the Palmiste area. Upon entering Brash Boulevard around 5:20 p.m., PC Plaza observed a vehicle matching the description parked near a picnic site with two men standing nearby. When questioned, the men claimed they had stopped to smoke, but as officers exited their vehicles, the suspects picked up black plastic bags and fled on foot into a bushy area. A chase ensued with PC McIntosh, Cpl Clarence, and PC Ramroop pursuing and apprehending both men. Police recovered the black plastic bags containing cash and a firearm marked 'FNJ 40.'

Vehicle Safety as a Habit: Most vehicle-related robberies are opportunistic — a car with a visible bag and an unlocked door is a target even in safe areas. Keeping windows up and doing a quick scan before exiting costs nothing and maintains the safety standard your neighbourhood has built.

Community Trust Index: Areas with scores this low typically show the highest levels of inter-neighbour trust, translating to faster incident response and stronger collective vigilance.
