Proprietor chased, beaten and robbed of $30,000 in Siparia (53)

Lower High Street, near NP Quik Shoppe and SS Erin Road, Siparia
Source: CNC 3

Around 8:40 AM on Friday, a 53-year-old proprietor parked his Nissan Tiida Hatchback at the NP Quik Shoppe on Lower High Street and began walking towards Republic Bank Limited. While attempting to cross SS Erin Road, two assailants pursued him; he ran towards the Fyzabad Taxi Stand but one caught up and struck him twice in the face. The second suspect dipped into the victim's pants pockets and robbed him of $30,000 and his vehicle keys, then drove off in the Tiida. The vehicle crashed into a metal railing opposite the Quik Shoppe, forcing the bandits to flee on foot. Officers from Siparia Police Station are investigating.
