A 47-year-old man, identified as Shafeek Fakira of Inglas Street, Vance River, Point Fortin, broke into a Curepe home on the afternoon of March 27. The homeowner had secured the property at 4:00 p.m. and returned around 8:00 p.m. to find signs of forced entry—a damaged lock on the eastern front door and the door left ajar—with the interior ransacked. Upon entering the bedroom, the homeowner discovered Fakira asleep on the floor. The homeowner confronted and subdued the intruder, restraining him using reasonable force; during the altercation, the suspect sustained injuries. Police responded shortly after and arrested Fakira at the scene. He was taken into police custody and admitted to hospital under guard.
