Man arrested after attempting to disarm police officer outside Chaguanas station

Chaguanas Main Road, Chaguanas

A male police officer narrowly avoided being disarmed during a bizarre encounter outside the entrance of the Chaguanas Police Station around 9:30 a.m. A suspect approached the officer and attempted to pull his service weapon from its holster. After the failed attempt, the man fled on foot along the Chaguanas Main Road but was quickly apprehended by police. Upon his arrest, the suspect reportedly claimed his actions were influenced by mourning the death of his pet dog. It has since been noted that the individual suffers from mental health issues.
