Mt St GeorgeSRP Officer Charged with Kidnapping, Assaulting Common-Law Wife

Village Street / Dam Road, Mt St George, Tobago

A Special Reserve Police officer kidnapped his common-law wife on Village Street, Mt St George on March 18, forcing her into his vehicle and restraining her with handcuffs to prevent her escape. He drove her to a forested area off Dam Road, Mt St George, where he assaulted her and threatened her with a cutlass before driving her home. The victim reported the incident to police. The officer was arrested in Tobago on Wednesday and charged with kidnapping, false imprisonment, and common assault. He appeared before the Tobago Assizes.
