On Monday, June 9, 2025, at approximately 9:30 AM, 53-year-old Rajesh Maharaj of Alligator Trace North, Munroe Road, Cunupia, was kidnapped while seated in the driver's seat of a brown vehicle on Mission Road in the Freeport district. An 80-year-old passenger was also present in the back seat when a black vehicle pulled alongside them and two men of African descent emerged and confronted Maharaj. Maharaj was heard telling the suspects, "Tomorrow na, ah tell yuh tomorrow," moments before being forcibly taken. The suspects dropped the elderly passenger near Highway Bar on Mission Road and sped off with Maharaj in the brown vehicle. Maharaj has not been seen or heard from since the abduction. His vehicle was also reported missing. Police are investigating the kidnapping and searching for the suspects and the missing vehicle.
