Port of SpainPolice Officer Receives Death Threats, Bullets Left at Door

Freeport Police Station area, Freeport, Couva - Tabaquite - Talparo

A police officer attached to the Port-of-Spain Task Force reported receiving death threats linked to a court matter involving himself, Officer Samson, and Officer Carter. On the night of May 29, while at an All-Fours game at the Centre of Excellence, the officer received a threatening message demanding he drop the court case or face death to himself and his family. Later that evening in a car park, an unknown caller threatened him directly, stating he was lucky to have his three-year-old son alive, and someone attempted to run his vehicle off the road. The following morning, May 30, the officer discovered a brown envelope containing three 5.56 calibre bullets left at his door, accompanied by a handwritten note stating: 'Last warning for you, Samson and Carter drop the court matter. Last night, you get away. Next time, is shots.' The officer reported the threats to Freeport Police Station. The TTPS has initiated an investigation into the threats, intimidation, and attempted interference with the administration of justice; the matter is being treated with utmost seriousness and protective measures are being implemented.
