A 30-year-old contractor was brutally attacked with cutlasses during a home invasion in Barrackpore shortly after midnight on June 22, 2026. Two men, Jerreme Sambucharan and Darrion Thomas (also known as "Gully"), allegedly entered the victim's home and inflicted multiple chop wounds on the contractor. The injured man was transported to San Fernando General Hospital, where he remained hospitalized for 15 days before being discharged on July 6, 2026. Officers from the Barrackpore Police Station arrested the suspects on June 25 following an investigation that included witness statements and crime scene processing. Both men were charged with attempted murder and appeared before Princes Town Court on Tuesday, July 1, 2026.
