Electrical cables were stolen from the wastewater treatment plant serving Fairfield, Princes Town on Saturday morning, July 11, 2026, forcing the facility to shut down. An HDC employee discovered the gates to the plant open around 8:25 a.m. and observed a person running from the compound; however, no one was apprehended. A considerable amount of cables needed to maintain and operate the plant were cut and stolen, disabling the facility's operations. Police responded to the scene and are investigating the incident. The theft has left approximately 600 to 700 residents at risk of sewage backup in their homes if repairs are not completed quickly.
