Electrical equipment valued at approximately $50,000 was stolen from an HDC waste, water and sewage plant at Jacob Hill, Wallerfield on July 12, 2026. Two workers arrived at the facility around 12:45 p.m. and discovered the front gate open with no electricity at the compound. Further inspection revealed that the facility's electrical meter, panel, and several lengths of armoured electrical cable had been removed. Police are investigating the theft as part of intensified efforts to crack down on the illegal trade in stolen copper and electrical infrastructure.
