Two men were robbed at gunpoint on Petunia Drive, Picton Road Extension, Sangre Grande on Sunday, July 12, 2026 at approximately 7:20 p.m. after arriving to purchase birds from a man known as 'Enrique'. Three suspects approached the pair; one victim was escorted into a nearby track where a suspect produced what appeared to be a firearm and announced a robbery, taking US$130 and TT$1,500 from that victim. At the same time, the second victim remaining in the van was confronted by another suspect and robbed of TT$670 in cash. The victims drove to Sangre Grande Police Station to report the incident. While officers were recording their statements, members of the Eastern Division Task Force arrived with two detainees from another matter, and both victims immediately identified one of the detainees as one of the men involved in the robbery. Officers recovered a quantity of cash allegedly linked to the proceeds of the robbery during the investigation. Crime Scene Investigators processed the robbery location and enquiries are continuing.
