Kyle Deruine, 25, of Knack Knack Trace, Upper Sangre Grande, was shot and injured outside Bonanza Bar on the eastern main road around 2 a.m. on Thursday, July 16, 2026, as he was leaving the establishment and heading toward his parked vehicle. Deruine felt a burning sensation in his right arm after gunshots rang out, and observed a man dressed in dark clothing fleeing the scene. He was transported by members of the public to Sangre Grande Hospital, where he received medical attention for his injuries. Crime scene investigation officers recovered four spent shell casings at the scene. Officers from the Sangre Grande CID interviewed Deruine at the hospital, though he was under sedation and drifting in and out of consciousness, limiting the information he could provide. Investigations are ongoing.
