Four men—a 77-year-old from Montrose, a 25-year-old from Thompson Road, a 63-year-old from Thompson Road, and a 20-year-old from Chaguanas—were robbed and assaulted by two cutlass-wielding bandits on Thaddeus Trace, Thompson Road, Palmiste on Wednesday morning, 5th March 2026 around 9:30 a.m. while attempting to catch bullfinch birds. A black wagon with heavily tinted windows and covered registration plate pulled alongside the victims. Two brown-skinned men, approximately 5 feet 6 inches tall, dressed in black with covered faces, exited armed with cutlasses and announced a robbery. The suspects stole five bullfinch birds in cages valued at $40,000 TT, an iPhone 15 Pro Max valued at $8,500 TT, and a Samsung A23 cellphone valued at $3,500 TT. During the incident, two victims were physically assaulted, receiving blows to the shoulder and face. The suspects escaped in the vehicle along Thompson Road toward Carlsen Field.
