Around 8:30 pm on March 20, officers from the Barataria CID, Barataria Police Station, the North Eastern Division Task Force and the Canine Unit were conducting an exercise under the Emergency Powers Regulations 2026 when they observed a man standing along a roadway in the Barataria district. The man, wearing a black T-shirt with "DOH DO THAT" printed on it, reacted upon seeing the approaching police vehicles, clutched his waistband and ran off, prompting officers to pursue him. He was apprehended a short distance away, and during a search, police recovered a black and silver Beretta pistol from his waistband along with a magazine containing 12 rounds of .380 ammunition. The 35-year-old man was taken into police custody.
