Lisa Maharaj, daughter of the owner of R&J Cell Store at Gulf City Mall in San Fernando, was targeted by armed men in a white vehicle who attempted to ram her SUV off the road on Tuesday, May 13th, 2025. As rain poured, the suspects struck her vehicle from behind, and when she began to reverse, the attackers' car reversed as well, indicating deliberate intent rather than an accident. One of the armed suspects attempted to open her SUV door while two shots were fired at the vehicle, with one bullet entering the driver's door and narrowly missing Maharaj. She immediately locked her doors and drove directly to the police station to report the incident. The nature of the attack—whether a kidnapping attempt or assassination attempt—remains unclear. Maharaj recounted the terrifying moments during a live phone interview with Crime Watch host Ian Alleyne just hours after the incident, describing her fear and the deliberate actions of the attackers.
