Taxi driver robbed and assaulted by two men (53-year-old)

Lord and Mucurapo Street, corner; Independence Avenue vicinity Rushworth Street; Corinth Junction, San Fernando

Around 9:30 PM on May 14, 2025, a 53-year-old taxi driver was robbed and assaulted while plying his car for hire at the corner of Lord and Mucurapo Street in San Fernando. Two men approached posing as passengers, with one entering the front seat and the other the back seat. They requested to be taken to Golconda by the traffic lights. Upon reaching Independence Avenue near Rushworth Street, the rear passenger produced a firearm, pointed it at the driver's head, and ordered him to drive. As the victim turned onto Corinth Junction, the suspects immobilized the vehicle and a physical struggle erupted. The suspects dealt the victim several blows about the body before forcibly removing him from the vehicle and fleeing the scene with the taxi. The victim reported the incident to police and used the vehicle's GPS tracking system to shut down the car remotely.
