US$50,000 ransom demanded for San Juan man (Cody Narine, 23)

Cody Narine, 23, of John Dulam Street, Aranguez, San Juan, disappeared from Tyrico Bay just after midnight on March 18 while with other people, leaving behind his cellphone. Relatives received a video call from the kidnappers demanding US$50,000 for his safe release. The captors reportedly spoke Spanish. Narine appeared unharmed in the proof-of-life video but was visibly frightened. Police are investigating. As of press time, Narine remained in the hands of his captors. While unconfirmed, a villager suggested a possible link to guns and drugs, but police have not confirmed any drug connection.
